Evaluators Leading the Conversation and Exploring the Future of Evaluation

Join Karen T. Jackson, president-elect of the American Evaluation Association, for a conversation exploring the value of local and national evaluation associations. We will talk about how we can use our evaluation expertise in leading conversations about how evaluation is used and how it will be used in the future. We will also get a sneak peak at the 2025 American Evaluation Association conference theme.

Presenter Bio

Karen T. Jackson is an associate professor, in the Leadership Studies and Adult Education department at North Carolina A&T State University. She teaches research methods, ethics and decision making, policy, and leadership for community and civic engagement courses and facilitates dissertation development. Her work is grounded in complex systems theory, transformative leadership theory and social justice. She brings a deep understanding of community engagement, social science research and evaluation methods and societal implications of inequity to her research.

As president-elect of the American Evaluation Association, Jackson is dedicating herself to development and implementation of the strategic plan for the professional association. Jackson has been a member of AEA since 2013 and has served the organization in many capacities including board member at large (2020-2023). She has promoted AEA’s organizational role as educator of evaluators, policy informant and advocate for justice.

“The president-elect position provides opportunity to impact the association as well as the field of evaluation,” she said. “I hope to support and promote leadership development within the organization and influence methods used in the field to represent individuals and groups from diverse communities.”
